1. Prep the Hair
• Clean & Dry: Start with clean, dry hair.
• Brush Back: Brush all of your hair straight back so it lies smooth and follows its natural direction without tangles.
• Smooth Textured Hair: If your hair is curly or thick, straighten or blow it out first so it glides easily through the cap holes.
2. Put On and Secure the Cap
• Center the Cap: Place the cap centered on your head.
• Pull Down Snugly: Pull the cap down tightly over your skull to eliminate gaps between the plastic and your scalp (which prevents roots from looking grown-out).
• Tie It: Secure the chin straps into a snug bow under your chin so the cap stays firmly in place.
3. Pull Hair Through the Holes
• Pierce the Holes: The double-lined plastic design features a solid inner layer and pre-punched outer grid lines; use the included highlighting needle/hook to pierce through the inner layer.
• Select Strands: Guide the hook through a hole, catch a small, controlled strand of hair as close to the scalp as possible, and pull it gently out.
• Work Systematically: Use the 24-grid star pattern on the cap to guide your placement evenly across the head.
• Brush Through: Comb or brush the pulled-out strands gently to smooth them out and prevent chunky, uneven bleach marks.
4. Apply Color and Process
• Apply Bleach or Dye: Apply your lightener or hair color to the pulled-through strands.
• Process: Follow the manufacturer's timing instructions for your hair color or bleach developer.
5. Remove and Rinse
• Rinse First: Rinse the color or lightener out of the pulled-through strands while keeping the cap on.
• Remove Cap: Untie the chin straps and carefully pull the cap upward off your head.
• Wash & Condition: Shampoo and deep-condition your hair thoroughly, then dispose of the single-use cap.
