• Section the Hair: Take your desired diagonal or weaving section of hair. Tease the hair at the root if you want a softer, more natural shadow-root effect.
• Position the Board: Slide the 4” x 13.5” curved board underneath the hair section. Hold the ergonomic handle with your non-dominant hand for stability. Adjust your elevation (lowering or pulling slightly toward you) so the hair lays completely flat and taut against the board’s surface.
• Load the Brush: Dip the angled, peak-feathered Colortrak Balayage Brush into your lightener or color. Make sure the product is mixed smoothly without clumps or lumps.
• Paint the Hair:
o Keep your brush parallel to the hair strand, using the length of the bristles rather than jabbing with the tips.
o Use a side-to-side sweeping or feathering motion.
o Choose either the smooth or textured side of the double-sided board depending on how much grip and saturation you need.
• Process and Remove: Once saturated to your preference, carefully slide the board out or cover the section with foil or hair wrap for added dimension.
